BOSTON — As he reflected on his 1,000th career NHL game Monday, David Krejci said multiple times that he was just glad the Bruins called to bring him back for this season.

  • Krejci is a veteran player
  • he's been playing for the Bruins since 2006
  • he's played in 1,000 games
  • he's happy to be back with the Bruins

“A lot of familiar faces and I still love it here,” he said. “It’s obviously my home and I love playing in this city, so it means a lot to me. I just wanted to come back, that’s why I said a couple of days ago I was very happy that they called me.”

  • Krejci is happy to be back in Boston
  • he has a lot of experience with the Bruins
  • he loves playing in Boston
  • he was excited to be brought back by the team

The feeling is mutual. A decade-and-a-half into his career, Krejci is still as important as ever to Boston’s success. His five points (1-4) through three games already ties his playoff point total from last postseason, when the Bruins were eliminated in five games by the Hurricanes in the second round. He has just two more years on his contract, but his return was critical because it locked down Boston's top-six center group for another season after Charlie Coyle re-signed for two years with an AAV of $5 million this offseason, too.

  • Krejci has been a key part of the Bruins for a long time
  • the Bruins are happy to have him back
  • he's been a good player this season.
  • he's also a good person
  • the team is still aiming for the playoffs
  • the coach thinks Krejci is an important part of the team
  • Krejci's teammates are happy he's back tooKrejci's teammates are happy he's back too
  • Krejci has been injured a lot before, which is why they wanted him to take it

“You come every day to the rink with a smile on your face,”Krejci said of this season. “You’re enjoying every moment, because you don’t know how long it’s gonna last.”
